Semiotics, Moral Panic, Feminism

Semiotics, also called semiotic studies and including seismology, is the study of signs and sign processes , indication, designation, likeness, analogy, metaphor, symbolism, signification, and communication. Semiotics is closely related to the field of linguistics, which, for its part, studies the structure and meaning of language more specifically. However, as different from linguistics, semiotics studies also non-linguistic sign systems. Semiotics is often divided into three branches:
  • Semantics: Relation between signs and the things to which they refer; their denotative, or meaning
  • Syntactic: Relations among signs in formal structures
  • Pragmatics: Relation between signs and the effects they have on the people who use them
Semiotics is frequently seen as having important anthropological dimensions; for example, Umber to Eco proposes that every cultural phenomenon can be studied as communication. However, some semiotics focus on the logical dimensions of the science. They examine areas belonging also to the natural sciences – such as how organisms make predictions about, and adapt to, their semiotic niche in the world In general, semiotic theories take signs or sign systems as their object of study.

Feminism
These were the economic, social rights and political rights are defending equal rights for women.  This includes giving women equal opportunities of equal education they should not be turned down due to the fact they are a women, they should have the equal chance of employment the same as a man does.  The theory behind feminism is it is to understand the nature of the gender and the inequality this is by looking at a women’s social role.

Moral panic
This is an intense feeling expressed within a population and this is an issue which appears more within the social order of life.  According to Stanley Coher who is an author about sociological study he believes a moral panic occurs when a person or even a group emerges to become defined and shown as a threat.  People who starts the panic this is when they panic because they feel a threat, this involves arguments and also when social tension is created through a disagreement.
