Music Magazine

Music Magazine Covers

Throughout the past media studies lesson we have been researching what music genre to use when creating our Music Magazine, I had researched through the different genres off Rock, Classic Rock, Rap they were the three I had decided to choose from so I researched into more the styles of the front covers, and the one genre which caught my eye the most was Rap the front covers seem to have more of an edge to them they catch the eye more but are not bombarded with a load of information and pictures.

These below are just a view I found and might use different parts when creating my own:

Music Magazine Cover 1: Q

Music Magazine Cover 2: XXL

 Music Magazine Cover 3: TRUE

News Letter

I am going to analyse this Deyes High news letter like the different fonts, colour, images, house style, target audience.

The font they use on this new sletter is Calibri (body) and it is size 14 text this is a good choice this makes it easy for the reader and it makes it clear it also stands out because it is a white back ground with black text, this makes it clear for the reader.  The house style colour which is used throughout the letter is blue and red this is the colour of Deyes High so they use it within the letter this is a good use of House Style because it shows that it is officially from Deyes High school.

The text is mainly cantered down the page show it is all the same it is not all over the place, also the use of images is good they have relevant pictures to the topic and they do not overload it with they have just put enough in for the reader to see.  The layout of it has a bold blue and red title at the start of every new topic.
The target audience for this news letter is mainly aimed at parents because they are looking to let them know the goings on within the school and feed them information and it is set out so that is easy to read and digest the information, but it is also easy for children to read as well to find out more information about their school.

Semiotics, Moral Panic, Feminism

Semiotics, also called semiotic studies and including seismology, is the study of signs and sign processes , indication, designation, likeness, analogy, metaphor, symbolism, signification, and communication. Semiotics is closely related to the field of linguistics, which, for its part, studies the structure and meaning of language more specifically. However, as different from linguistics, semiotics studies also non-linguistic sign systems. Semiotics is often divided into three branches:
  • Semantics: Relation between signs and the things to which they refer; their denotative, or meaning
  • Syntactic: Relations among signs in formal structures
  • Pragmatics: Relation between signs and the effects they have on the people who use them
Semiotics is frequently seen as having important anthropological dimensions; for example, Umber to Eco proposes that every cultural phenomenon can be studied as communication. However, some semiotics focus on the logical dimensions of the science. They examine areas belonging also to the natural sciences – such as how organisms make predictions about, and adapt to, their semiotic niche in the world In general, semiotic theories take signs or sign systems as their object of study.

Feminism
These were the economic, social rights and political rights are defending equal rights for women.  This includes giving women equal opportunities of equal education they should not be turned down due to the fact they are a women, they should have the equal chance of employment the same as a man does.  The theory behind feminism is it is to understand the nature of the gender and the inequality this is by looking at a women’s social role.

Moral panic
This is an intense feeling expressed within a population and this is an issue which appears more within the social order of life.  According to Stanley Coher who is an author about sociological study he believes a moral panic occurs when a person or even a group emerges to become defined and shown as a threat.  People who starts the panic this is when they panic because they feel a threat, this involves arguments and also when social tension is created through a disagreement.
